Toying with Mobile Marketing
The popular toymaker Hasbro has enlisted a new mobile media promotion in which its popular "Transformer" brand will be dispersed in the form of games, ring tones, wallpapers and eventually video clips according to a recent clickz.com report.
The idea is to revitalize the market that thrived in the mid 1980s as well as create some buzz leading up to a scheduled July release of a "Transformers" movie. In January Hasbro released a similar campaign online, with interactive videos of its popular Playskool brand, which includes Transformers and G.I. Joe.
Several other major companies have enlisted mobile venues for promoting their products such as Maxim, who has plans to release mobile versions of its May magazine content. This innovative form of promotion provides a bevy of opportunities that is sure to have many followers in upcoming months.
