Downloadable Episodes Reach New Heights in Sci Fi Promotion
NBC Universal’s Sci Fi Channel has announced a multi-channel promotion with TV Guide and iTunes to market its “Battlestar Galactica” series. The promotion intends to reach individuals who may not already be fans of show, encouraging viewers to utilize a code redemption program inside 1.4 million of its March print issue.
ABC has already found success with a similar program, which allows episodes of “Lost” and “Desperate Housewives” to be downloaded at a cost to the user. With ABCs past success, and what looks like a promising start for Sci Fi, possibilities keep emerging in this innovative form of distributed entertainment with opportunities to integrate promotions.
