Community Marketing
With the proliferation of new applications such as Apple's iWeb, the need for marketers to message and promote on community forums continues to increase. Community sites such as MySpace, Friendster and The Facebook, are growing tremendously-- thus presenting a unique opportunity to message amongst large communities of users.
The new iWeb will allow consumers to share digital photos, movies and podcasts-- strengthening the notion of community on the Web. As Mark Kingdon from Clickz Network explains, "Personal pages will become even more commonplace. Open and closed communities, such as MySpace.com and Facebook, will continue to proliferate." What might be of even more concern to marketers, Kingdon explains, is that this experience gives the consumer more opportunity to create dialogue about brand preference. "It means mainstream consumers will have even more powerful tools with which to share personal experiences... and experiences with the brands they love and hate."
